The conversion chain
For a Stirling-based project, the chain is heat source → Stirling engine → mechanical output → generator → electrical load or power electronics. Each transition introduces constraints and losses.
Questions to answer before building
- What is the continuous heat source?
- How will the cold side reject heat?
- What measured mechanical output is realistic?
- What generator and electrical conditioning are required?
- What safety issues arise from hot surfaces, pressure and rotating components?
